So don't be afraid to show your true self instead of just the perfect moments. So dismiss those insecurities and doubt. Share those milestones and impactful moments in your life, such as working your first job, opening your first business and working with your first client. Chances are, people are more interested in hearing how you've grown and developed as a person in your life anyways.
If you feel like you're just average or don't lead an interesting life, that can be your story. Chances are, there are other individuals who feel that way too. Therefore, you will be able to relate to them via your mundane stories.
For every single life has texture and can be interesting, depending on how you look at it. There are values to your stories and there are others out there waiting to hear your stories so they can find the motivation and validation they need to carry on.
Back when I was in school, a teacher once told me that I would never amount to anything and that my writing was so incomprehensible, that they didn't understand why I achieved such good grades in writing. They painted me as someone stupid. At that moment, I realized I had to come up with my own answer about my intellect and my writing and not them. My answer was no, I'm not stupid. Sure, my writing was abstract and poetic, but it was my style. I later found out that it really spoke to others, which got me to where I am today. So remember, there's always gold to be mined in your experience and if you set your mind to it, you can overcome your hardships.
The Storytelling Tool You've Been Looking For
If you are struggling to think of life stories that you can repurpose into engaging content, ask yourself this: What challenges or struggles are you helping someone overcome? Once you've established what you want to help your target audience with, you can then turn to your own life. Think back to all the instances you were faced with this issue. Go year by year and grade by grade and take a mental note of each experience related to the challenge you want to help your audience overcome. Maybe it's the first time you got rejected. Perhaps it's the time you failed, but it turned out to be the best thing to ever happen to you because it granted you that moment of clarity you needed to realize your dreams and full potential. If you do this, I will be surprised if you don't come up with at least 20 different stories you can repurpose into content for your brand.
