Why You’ll Never Be Ready…And How to Not Let It Stop You!
When you think of taking on something new, or finally starting what you’ve been putting off, is the next thing you say to yourself, “I don’t think I’m ready to do this?” Do you think you need more time, more experience, more knowledge, more…something, before you’re ready to make the leap and actually get started?
How can you prevent those thoughts from stopping you?
Awareness. Here are two main things you need to know about not feeling “ready:”
You’re never going to feel 100% ready.
Not feeling ready is just a form of fear.
Every moment of every day is an opportunity for you to make the choice to move deeper into your fear about doing or starting something, or to take that moment, pause, and move into your fierce power. Every moment is an opportunity to make a choice that will serve you, your destiny and your higher self.
The voice of fear is never true. The only true voice is the voice of love. So when you’re telling yourself you’re not ready, ask yourself in that moment, “Does what I’m thinking feel good to me?” And if it doesn’t feel good to you, then you can be sure that there’s fear behind it – and that therefore it’s not true.
Thinking you’re not ready is a myth to make you stop taking action and to keep you in your comfort zone.
You might think you’re not ready because of other fears that are also coming up for you. Every single person in the world faces fear. I’ve worked with some of the highest achievers in the world and they all have fear.
Some of the common fears that many of us share are:
Fear of not being able to be and show our true selves.
Fear of not making the difference we are here to make.
Fear of not being able to achieve financial comfort.
Fear of failing or of disappointing others.
Fear of not being enough or good enough to be able to do what we want to do.
Fear of not being able to manage success.
Fear of not being liked.
I could go on and on…there are so many! And all of them feel bad, so none of them are true!
Sometimes just knowing that isn’t enough. So what can you do when fear like this comes up?
When you have thoughts like this, try these four steps:
Observe the fears that came up in your mind.
First, open your mind and your heart to the idea that these thoughts are not true. You are not your thoughts – you have your thoughts. Remember that a thought that feels bad comes from fear, and fear is not truth. Remember that the only voice of truth is the voice of love. If you’re not able to believe 100% yet that the thought you’re having isn’t true, try starting with being willing to consider that it’s not true. Begin by simply being willing to open your heart to a new thought, even if you don’t know how yet. Try saying out loud, “I don’t know how yet, but I am willing to consider that this fear is not true.”
Make a choice in the present moment.
Next, challenge yourself to make a choice that serves love rather than fear. Ask yourself, “Is that true? I’m one in 400 trillion. Is it really true that I’m not enough and that I’m not ready? Or is it time to truly believe in the magic that I am, that I’ve deep down always known I am, and to believe that it’s time to shine my light?” Because it’s time to shine your light.
Connect with the truth.
Write down all of the reasons why you are worthy, why you are ready, and why you are enough. Truth.
Take an action!
The only way out of fear is through action: take a bold step into the way of love and take action toward your dreams. Remember: Inspiration without implementation is useless. We need to take consistent action in the direction of our dreams – especially when we feel fear.
